Hi there, I hope you’re having a lovely day!
Today we’re celebrating Altenew’s February Stencils/Decals/Stand-Alone Dies release! If you arrived from the Kymona Tracey’s blog, you’re right on track. If you want to hop along from the beginning, visit the Altenew Card Blog. Check the bottom of this post for the full blog hop list!
For my first card, above, I paired the new Open Bloom 3D Die Set with the new Fine Frames Diamonds Die Set.
I cut out the layers of the two Open Bloom flowers and colored them with red Copics (R22, R24, R29, and R59) before gluing them together. Then I die cut the leaves, and several diamonds, from a piece of King Gold Metallic Recollections cardstock. Next, I stamped the sentiment, from the Needlework Motif stamp set, in black pigment ink onto strips of the same metallic cardstock.
To assemble the card, I used a Zig 2-Way Glue Pen to add glue to the back of the fine diamonds. I adhered the diamonds to an A2-size piece of Neenah Solar White, and then adhered the two blooms, one with glue and one with foam tape. Then I tucked in the leaves, adhering them with Zots Bling adhesive dots so that they lift a bit away from the background for added dimension. Next I adhered the sentiment strips with foam tape and to finish, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.
For my second card I created another bloom with the Open Bloom 3D Die Set. This time I used R21, R22, R24, and R27 for the flower, and G43, and G46 for the leaves. I adhered the layers together and then used foam tape to adhere the flowers to a panel that I had debossed using the new Dotted Starburst Debossing Cover Die. I love the intricate pattern of this cover die, and the subtle tone-on-tone effect it created for this background. I tucked the leaves around the flower and adhered them with Zots Bling Adhesive Dots, and then adhered the sentiment with foam tape (the sentiment is from the Adore You Stamp Set).
To finish, I trimmed the panel down to 5.25″ x 4″ and used foam tape to adhere it to an A2-sized card base.
For my last card, I placed the new Bursting Dahlia Stencil over a piece of Fabriano Artistico Extra White Cold Press watercolor paper. I used a pencil to lightly trace the lines of the petals and then got out the Spring Garden Watercolor Brush Marker set. Using the Rubellite and Warm Sunshine markers, as well as a waterbrush pen filled with clean clear water, I water colored the petals, starting at the outer tip of each petal with Rubellite, and blending that into Warm Sunshine towards the middle of the flower.
When the panel was dry, I trimmed it down to A2 size and then I loosely placed a piece of paper towel over the flower to protect it. Using the the Rubellite marker, I splattered ink around the edges of the the card front and then, when it was dry, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.

VERY nice presentation! Thank you for sharing! Your use of the diamond frames and the standalone rose dies is absolutely beautiful, and the dahlia card made me momentarily feel like I was someplace sunny and warm (we’ve had TONS of rain this winter, with lots of gloom). It was refreshing to see your work!
