Tis The Season To Sparkle | Honey Bee Stamps Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hi there, I hope your day is going well!

Today I’m super excited to be part of day one of Honey Bee Stamps’ Season To Sparkle Release two-day blog hop.  The hop is full of inspiration for the amazing new release, and there’s also a giveaway!  If you arrived from Jana’s blog, you’re right on track.  If you want to start from the beginning, head over to the Honey Bee blog!

For my first card I paired the new Layering Snowflakes dies with a sentiment from the Season To Sparkle stamp set.

I started on the background by using painters tape to tape down a piece of Canson XL watercolor paper to my work surface.  I wet down the paper with a flat brush and clean clear water.  Then I brushed on Peacock Blue Mission Mijello Gold watercolor, concentrating the color at the top of the panel.  I used a heat gun to speed along the drying process and then added a second layer of color, again concentrating color at the top.

I set the panel aside to dry and started on the snowflakes.  I die cut out all of the snowflakes in the set from Neenah Solar White 80# Classic Crest cardstock.  I added shimmer to them all using a Zig Wink Of Stella brush.  It’s difficult to see the shimmer in the photos, but in real life, there’s a beautiful sparkle to them.

When the panel was dry, I trimmed it to 4″ x 5.25″ and used a Misti to stamp the sentiment in Versafine Clair Nocturne ink.  Then I splattered white gouache onto it the panel, as well as a little bit of light blue gouache that was still on my palette from a previous project.

To assemble the card, I adhered five snowflakes with a dab of glue at the center of each so that their “arms” would lift away from the panel.  I used scissors to trim off parts of two snowflakes that were hanging over the edge of the panel and then backed the panel with foam tape to adhere it to an A2-sized card base.

20191013_170222For my second card I used the same dies, this time inking up the snowflakes with Cherry Kisses, Party Pink, and Melon Orange inks from The Stamp Market.  I drew down each line of the snowflakes with a clear Sakura Stardust Glitter Pen to add sparkle and then adhered the snowflakes to an A2-sized piece of Neenah, trimming off anything hanging over the edges of the panel.

For the sentiment, I used another stamp from the Season to Sparkle stamp set.  I placed it in my Misti and then carefully masked off all of the words except for “Sparkle.”  I part of “Sparkle” with Cherry Kisses and stamped it onto a piece of Neenah.  Then I inked up the center of “Sparkle” with Party Pink, stamped it, and then inked up the right part with Melon Orange and stamped.  This created a pretty gradient across the word.  Then I inked up the rest of the words with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink and stamped again. When using this technique, when part of the stamp is masked while inking up the stamp, remember to move the mask when stamping down on your cardstock.

I used the coordinating sentiment dies to cut out the sentiment which I adhered with foam tape before adhering it to the background.  Then I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.

For my third project, I used the cute new Stocking Gift Card Holder dies.  I cut all of the pieces of out Neenah and then white heat embossed some snowflakes (some from the Season To Sparkle stamp set, and some from the Jingle All The Way stamp set from last winter).  Then I used Distress Oxide inks to ink them up.  I used Candied Apple for the red stocking, and Abandoned Coral, Ripe Persimmon, and Picked Raspberry for the other.

To the red gift card holder, I adhered the toe and heel die cuts.  To the other, I adhered Fa La La die cuts from last year’s Fa La La die set.

To create a back to each stocking, I added a bit of glue around the backside of each, and on their little fold over flaps, and then adhered each stocking to another stocking die cut.

Then I used temporary adhesive to hold the gift cards in place on each cuff die cut and then slid them into place inside each stocking.

Thank you so much for coming by!  Your next stop, and the last stop for Day 1, is a YouTube video by Antonia.  Be sure to comment on each post along the way, Honey Bee Stamps will be giving away a $30 gift certificate to one lucky commenter along all the stops!
