Fa La La Merry Hugs & Lots Of Love

Today I have a holiday card in non-traditional colors.  I really love large sentiment dies for a bold and easy focal point.

I started by using The Stamp Market’s Fa La La die to cut a piece of Neenah Solar White 80# Classic Crest cardstock and also to cut a mask out a piece of Avery Removable ID Labels (6465).  I removed the release paper from the mask and adhered it to an A2-sized piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock.

Using a foam blending tool, I blended The Stamp Market’s Bubble Gum ink over the mask, concentrating the color near in the center of the card and fading out to the edges. When I finished adding color, I splattered some watered-down white gouache over the panel.  Then I removed the mask.

For the ornaments, I used Wow! Embossing Pad and white Hero Arts embossing powder to heat emboss three ornaments from The Stamp Market Mini Ornaments stamp set.  To watercolor the ornaments, I smooshed a bit of Citrine ink onto my glass work surface and then used a waterbrush pen to pick up color and paint the ornaments.  For the hearts, polka dots, stripes, and the metal connectors, I used Finetec Champagne Silver pearlescent watercolor.  I used the coordinating dies to die cut the ornaments and then set them aside.

I stamped “merry hugs & lots a love” (from the Holiday Greetings stamp set) in Versafine Clair Nocturne ink onto a strip of Neenah.

To assemble the card, I added small strips of foam tap to the back of the Fa La La die cut and adhered it, slightly off-center, over the masked Fa La La.  Then I used a little piece of Scotch tape to adhere the heart ornament to the sentiment strip, hooking the ornament onto the strip.  I backed both with foam tape, and then adhered them to the card. I added foam tape to the backs of the other two sentiments and then hooked them onto the large sentiment, tucking the stripe bulb behind the tail of the sentiment.

To finished, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.
