Hi friends, I hope you’re having a great week!
Well, it’s the time of year where even here in Northern California we start to feel the temperatures start to shift What I notice the most about this time of year is that the sun is setting earlier and earlier and its path across the sky is shifting to the south. Thank goodness for fun fall stamp releases to ease us into the new season!
Today I’m honored to be guesting for Trinity Stamps’ Fall Release. We’ve got a great blog hop with lots of inspiration and a giveaway so be sure to visit all of the stops! If you arrived from Shanna Slater’s blog, you’re right on track. If you want to start from the beginning, head over to the Trinity Stamps blog!
I’ve got two cards to share in this post so be sure to read to the bottom, where you’ll also find giveaway information.
For my first card I used images from the Autumn Forest Friends stamp set, a sentiment from the Autumn Sentiments stamp set, and stencils from the Layered Birch stencil set.
I started by stamping the images in Copic-friendly Hero Arts Intense Black ink onto Neenah Solar White 80# Classic Crest cardstock. Then I got down to coloring. Here are the colors that I used:
- Deer: E11, E13, E17, and a bit of R30 in the ears
- Fox: E13, E37, E19, E40, E41, and a bit of R30 in the ears
- Hedgehog: W0, W2, W4, W5, W8, with a bit of R30 for his nose and the soles of his feet
- Pumpkins: Y18, YR15, and YR18, with some random Es for the stems
- Mushrooms: R37 and a white gel pen, with a random E for the stems
I used the coordinating dies to cut everything out and then I set the aside to work on the background.
On a 4″x 5.25″ panel of Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper, I used Trinity Stamps blending brushes to ink blend Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Inks to create a sky.
Then I used one of the stencils to create a tree using Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide Ink. Using another stencil from the set, I added falling leaves in Ripe Persimmon, Fired Brick, and Aged Mahogany Distress Oxide Inks, rotating and shifting the stencil between colors.
I used the curved edge of that same leaves stencil to draw a curved line on another piece of Bristol smooth paper. I cut along the line to create a hill and then ink blended Shabby Shutters and Bundled Sage to create grass.
For the sentiment I used Wow! Embossing Pad and white Hero Arts embossing powder on a piece of black cardstock.
To assemble the card I first adhered the grassy hill onto the background. Then I adhered the sentiment flush to the hill, and added all of the critters and vegetables using glue dots and foam tape for some variation in dimension. Finally, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.
For my second card I used the fun new Coffee Mug Card Die to cut a piece of 110# cardstock to create my coffe-shaped card base. I also used it on a piece of Bristol smooth so that I’d have a coffee-shaped card front. Onto the latter piece, I ink blended Shabby Shutters and Evergreen Bough Distress Oxide Inks. Then I splattered Cerulean Blue Artist’s Loft Gouache over the mug and set it aside to dry.
I used another die from the Coffee Mug Card die set to cut out the piece that holds the gift card on the inside of the card. I used Evergreen Bough to color that piece of cardstock.
I colored up the wagon and two pumpkins from the Autumn Forest Friends stamp set, and a third pumpkin from the Nutty Squirrel stamp set. I used the same colors as I used in the previous card for the pumpkins. For the wagon, I used E21, E34, and E23, with a bit of C4 for the center of the wheels.
I die cut the pumpkins and wagon with the coordinating dies. I fussy cut the wheels off of the stamped wagon image and replaced them by adhering two wheels that I’d cut out of black cardstock using the separate wheel die in the set.
I used Wow! Embossing Pad and white Hero Arts embossing powder to heat emboss the sentiment onto black cardstock. This sentiment is also from the Autumn Sentiments stamp set.
To assemble the card I adhered the card front to the card base and then adhered the sentiment and wagon using foam tape. I added the pumpkins with a combination of glue dots and foam tape (again for variation in dimension), and then I adhered the gift card holder to the inside of the card.
Thank you so much for visiting!
