Hi there, I hope you’re having a great day!

It’s finally STAMPtember® and Simon Says Stamp is celebrating today with a party!  If you’ve found your way here, welcome!  If you want to go back to the beginning, visit the Simon Says Stamp blog.  There are special gift codes sprinkled through the party so be sure to visit as many as you can for inspiration and gift-with-purchase codes!

STAMPtember 2019 Free Gift_1080_Apron_APRN95-01For my card today I used the new Spooky Silhouette cling stamp and a sentiment from the Autumn Greetings stamp set.  I started by inking up the grass and house silhouettes, and also the silhouettes of the bats that were “inside” the moon with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink.  Then I stamped onto a piece of Canson XL Watercolor paper.

Using a round die from the Hero Arts Nested Circles set, I die cut a piece of masking paper and used the negative cut to mask everything on the card but the moon.  Then I used Orange and Gambose Brusho (a pigment powder similar to Color Bursts) to watercolor the moon.

When the moon was dry, I removed the mask, and then used the circle mask to mask off the moon.  Using a blending tool, I ink blended Dusty Concord, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot Distress inks to create a dark sky.  Then I removed the mask and used a black marker to draw right side of the bat silhouettes that cross over the border of the moon and the sky (because I hadn’t inked up those areas when I originally stamped.

I added a bit of gray shading to the windows with W1, W3, and W5 Copic Markers.

To finish, I stamped the sentiment in the same black ink and then adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.

Thank you so much for visiting and please don’t forget to visit some of the other Simon Says Stamp design family members for more inspiration!
