Hi there and happy July!
Today we’re celebrating Altenew’s Build-A-Flower: Camellia Japonica* release! If you arrived from Zsoka Marko’s blog, you’re right on track. If you want to hop along from the beginning, visit the Altenew Card Blog. Check the bottom of this post for the full blog hop list!
This beautiful new layering die set is available as a stamp and die bundle, and also as a bundle that includes ink cubes in perfect coordinating colors. You can also subscribe to reserve your monthly Build-A-Flower set!
For my first card, I stamped the four layers of the camellia onto Neenah Solar White 80# Classic Crest cardstock in Rose Quartz, Puffy Heart, Purple Wine, and Cosmic Berry Crisp Dye Inks. I stamped and die cut three blooms and set them aside.
For the background, I used a stamp from the Leaf Clusters stamp set to stamp several leafy branches in Mountain Mist Crisp Dye Ink around the edges of an A2-sized piece of Neenah. Then I stamped the sentiment in Permanente Black ink onto another piece of Neenah and backed it with foam tape.
To assemble the card, I adhered the blooms around the edges of the background, trimmed off any excess, and then adhered those extra pieces around the edges as well. Then I adhered the sentiment and glued the card front to an A2-sized card base.
For my second card, I stamped a single bloom in Buttercream, Chamomile, Coral Bliss, and Ruby Red Crisp Dye inks. Then I stamped the leaves, which each have three layers, in Lime, Fresh Leaf, and Shadow Creek. I die cut these elements and set them aside.
For the background, I masked off the edges of an A2-sized piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock. Using an ink blending tool with foam, I blended Peach Perfect ink into the unmasked area of the card, building up more color at the edges of the unmasked and fading a bit towards the center. I removed the mask and then stamped the sentiment in Permanente Black ink.
To assemble the card, I adhered the leaves to the background, and then used foam tape to adhere the flower. Finally, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.
