Hi there, I hope you’re having a lovely day!
Today Altenew is celebrating their June Stamp, Die, and Stencil release with a blog hop and giveaways! If you arrived from Marge Yoon’s blog, you’re right on track. If you want to start at the beginning, visit the Altenew Card Blog. Check the bottom of this post for the full blog hop list to see all of the gorgeous projects everyone has made!
Today I’m sharing a couple of floral cards using two beautiful new stamp and die sets from the release. The first is a bold, back-to basics card using stamped and die cut elements. The second is a softer card using coloring and ink blending.
Peaceful Reverie
I started this first card by stamping the layers of the blooms, from the new Peaceful Reverie stamp set, using Altenew Chamomile Crisp Dye Ink for the lightest, base color, Marigold for the dot details, and Rubellite and Razzleberry for the bright pink centers. I stamped onto Neenah Solar White and die cut them with the coordinating dies and set them aside.
For the card front, I started with an A2-sized piece of Neenah Solar White and used several leaf stamps from the new Leaf Clusters stamp set to stamp clusters of leaves at the bottom left and top right corners. I used Evening Gray ink for a non-traditional look.
I used the Fine Frames Cover Die, from a previous release, to die cut a set of frames and then I selected four to adhere to the card front. I adhered the die cut blooms with foam tape and stamped the sentiment (from the older Reason To Smile stamp set) in black ink. To finish, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.
Forever In Love
For this second card I used a gorgeous image from the Forever In Love stamp set. I used Copic-friendly black ink to stamp it onto Neenah Solar White and then used R0000, R00, R01, R02, and R21to color the petals, G40, G43, and G24 to color the leaves, and E40, E70, and E71 to color the little berries. I also added a very little bit of shading to the blooms using a Prismacolor pencil. I used the coordinating die set to cut out the image and then set it aside to work on the background and sentiment.
For the background, I used a foam blending tool to blend Sea Glass ink onto an A2-sized piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth, concentrating the color at the center of the panel and fading out to white at the edges. For the sentiment, I used white embossing powder to heat emboss the sentiment onto a strip of Neenah Desert Storm which I then trimmed into a strip with one end cut at an angle.
To assemble the card I adhered the sentiment strip flush to the inked panel and then use foam tape to adhere the floral die cut. Then I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.
Thanks so much for coming by! Be sure to check out the giveaways below before you head on to visit Sveta Fotinia.
