The layers of the Build-A-Flower: Crocus flower line up so easily and beautifully that I got a little bit carried away stamping up the flowers for my first card using some gorgeous violet Altenew Crisp Dye inks.  I used Wisteria for the solid base layer, then Hydrangea for the second layer, and Ultraviolet for the darkest and last layer.  For the yellow centers I used Chamomile and Snapdragon, and for the leaves I used Grass Field and Shadow Creek.  This stamp and die set also come as a bundle with inks at a 5% discount if you don’t want to worry about what colors to pick!

baf-crocus_blog-postI used the coordinating dies to cut out all of the flowers and leaves and then temporarily arranged them on an A2-sized panel of Neenah Solar White 80# Classic Crest cardstock so that I could get a sense of where to stamp the sentiment.  I stamped the sentiment in black ink and then began adhering the die cut blooms and leaves permanently using a combination of Zots Bling adhesive dots and glue.

I used a paper trimmer to trim off the pieces of the die cuts that were hanging off the edges of the card front and then, to finish, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.

For my second card, I used a combination of stamping and coloring to create some very soft crocus blooms.

I started by stamping the solid layer with Gina K. Barely There Amalgam Ink which is a barely there pink.  Then I stamped the third/detail layer using Altenew Blush Crisp Dye ink.  Then I used Copics (YR0000, YR000, YR00, YR01, and E93) to add some very light shading.  I also used Y21, Y19, and Y38 for the flowers’ yellow centers.  Then I die cut the flowers and set them aside to work on the rest of the card.

For the background I added a strip of Gold String Washi Tape to an A2-sized piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock.  Then I used gold embossing powder to heat emboss the sentiment onto another strip of cardstock.

To assemble the card, I adhered the blooms using Zots adhesive dots and two thicknesses of foam tape to for a bit of varying dimension.  Then I adhered the sentiment with foam tape and finished by adhering the card front to an A2-sized card base.

Thanks so much for visiting! Please be sure to check out the giveaways below before you head on to visit Emily Midgett!

  1. Beautiful cards with this new stamp set! Love the riot of purple on the first card, and the more subdued hues on the second. That string washi tape totally rocks your last card! Thanks for some amazing ideas.

  2. Ooooo…such contrasting cards! The beautiful purple on the first makes an excellent frame for the sentiment; but my favorite is the soft Blush on the Gold String Washi tape_so elegant. I like that you stopped with the blooms and didn’t add leaves; it just makes it that much more clean and soft. Thank you for the inspiration; perfect for upcoming wedding 🙂
