Hi there and happy Monday!  Can you believe it’s already April?!  I’m in shock and denial so it’s a good thing for me that we have something fun going on today.

We’re celebrating Altenew’s Build-A-Flower: Sweet Violet release! If you arrived from Therese Calvird’s blog, you’re right on track. If you want to hop along from the beginning, visit the Altenew Card Blog. Check the bottom of this post for the full blog hop list!

baf-sweet-violet_blog-post-with-inkAltenew releases a new Build-A-Flower set every month and you can subscribe to receive a discounted price to ensure you never miss out. Altenew also offers a discounted bundle that includes the perfect ink colors for this gorgeous bloom!

For my card, I used Altenew Crisp Dye Inks to stamp all the layers of both blooms onto Neenah Solar White 80# Classic Crest cardstock.  I used Pink Pearl for the outlines and Frosty Pink for the solid layers.  Then I used Coral Bliss for both the shadow and detail layers.  Using a Copic Y18 and YR15, I added a bit of yellow the the centers of each bloom.

I used Shadow Creek ink to stamp the outline layers of the leaves, Firefly ink for the solid layers, and Green Fields and Shadow Creek for the two detail layers.  Using the coordinating dies, I die cut all the blooms and leaves and set them aside while I worked on the background.

Using the Dotted Scales Debossing Cover Die, I cut a piece of Neenah Solar White and then adhered the A2 panel to an A2-sized piece of light pink Recollections cardstock so that just a hint of pink would show through the perforations.

To finish the card, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base and added some small dots of Sunburst Stickles to the center of each flower.

Thanks so much for visiting! Please be sure to check out the giveaways below before you head on to visit Lydia Evans!

  1. Violets are one of my all time favorite flowers. Yet they are not easy to find or to keep alive when you do find them. I was surprised at your choice of color. And then I was surprised how much I liked your choice of color! LOVELY!
