For today’s hop, I made two cards using different techniques.  I love the versatility of these layering stamp sets!

Stamping

For my first card, I used Altenew Crisp Dye Inks to stamp all four layers of the blooms.  I used Crimson for the outline and then, from lightest to darkest, Blush, Rouge, and Velvet for the shadow layers. Then I used Copic markers (R11, R12, R14, and R17) to add some additional shading and stippled details.

I used Forest Glades ink to stamp only the outline layer of the leaves and then I used Copic G20, G24, and G28 to color them and add shading.  Using the coordinating dies, I die cut all the blooms and leaves and set them aside while I worked on the background.

20190218_095702I trimmed a piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth card stock to approximately 3″ x 4.25″ and then used foam blending tools to blend on Tattered Rose and Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide Inks.  While the ink was drying, I used the Fine Frames Cover Die to die cut a piece of Neenah Solar White 80# Classic Crest cardstock.  I picked out a couple of the smaller frames and adhered them, at slight angles, to the inked panel which I then adhered to an A2-sized piece of Neenah Solar White.

Using Zots Bling glue dots, I adhered the leaves and flowers.  Then I used Versafine Clair Nocturne ink to stamp the sentiment in two steps, masking off different parts of the sentiment so that I was left with “Thinking of you” in two lines.  Lastly, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.

Watercolor

20190218_095610.jpgFor my second card I used Altenew Morning Frost Crisp Ink and Daniel Smith watercolors.  I stamped the flower and leaf outlines, in Morning Frost, onto Fabriano Artistico Extra White cold press watercolor paper.  Then I used a small 2 round brush to paint, using Quinacridone Pink for the flowers, and Green Gold and Green Apatite Genuine for the leaves.  I let the images dry before I die cut them and set them aside to work on the background.

For the background I used another piece of watercolor paper, trimmed to approximately 3.25″ x 4.75″.  I smooshed Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean Distress Inks onto an acrylic block, spritzed the block about 10 times from a foot away with clean clear water, and then placed the block inky-side down onto the watercolor paper.  I weighed it down with a heavy book and waited five minutes before lifting the block and dabbing up excess water and ink with a clean paper towel.

When the panel was dry, I stamped the sentiment in the same Versafine Clair Nocturne ink and then adhered the flowers and leaves with more glue dots.  Finally, I adhered the card front to a small card base.

  3. Oh, I love the way you used Copics to add details to the stamps. That is a technique I need to try. It adds so much depth to the flowers.

  19. What beautiful cards! The first is my favorite. Who wouldn’t love those stamps done in those great bright colors! I’d love to try Altenew’s Watercolor brush markers on this set. While my watercoloring would never look as beautiful as yours, I think I could build up some pretty color on these flowers.

  26. Beautiful cards!! I would definitely use the Altenew Watercolor Brushes on the stamp set. They are so easy to use, there are so many gorgeous colors to use and darn it, I just love them!!

  28. I really like how you used and placed the frames as they extended the flowers and utilized the space on the card front. Really like the colors used in the first card – peaceful feel to the card.
