Hi there, and happy Friday!
Today I’m excited to be part of the Altenew Japanese Mum Blog Hop celebrating the newest release in their Build-A-Flower series. Just look at this beautiful flower!
If you arrived from Laurie Willison’s blog, you’re right on track. If you want to start at the beginning, visit the Altenew Card Blog. Check the bottom of this post for the full blog hop list to see all of the beautiful projects everyone has made!
I started by stamping all four layers of the Build-A-Flower: Japanese Mum onto Neenah Solar White 80# Classic Crest cardstock. I stamped the outline and the detailed fourth layer in Altenew Industrial Diamond ink. I stamped the solid second layer in Altenew Wisteria and the third layer in Hydrangea. I used a Copic V17 marker, a dark purple to add a bit more detail to some of the petals. The fourth layer stamp is actually very detailed, but since I had decided to use Industrial Diamond (the same color as my outline layer), I lost some detail.
Next I stamped several leaves, using Industrial Diamond again for the first and last layers, and Frayed Leaf for the solid layer. I skipped the third layer.
I used the coordinating dies to cut out the bloom and leaves and then adhered them together in a simple arrangement. You can find the stamp, die, and coordinating ink bundle here.
I stamped the sentiment in Versafine Clair Nocturne ink onto a small rectangle of Neenah Solar White. I adhered the flower and leaves to the top right corner of the rectangle and then trimmed away the parts of the rectangle where it peeked out at above and to the right of the flowers and leaves.
I backed this piece with foam tape and then adhered it to an A2-sized piece of Neenah which I had splattered with black gouache. To finish, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.
Thanks so much for coming by! Be sure to check out the giveaways below before you head on to visit Therese Calvird!

Seeka, since blue & purple are my favourite colours I would colour my Japanese Mum in varying shades of purple. I think your card is classy & elegant as well as CAS which is a style I love. I also think that stamping the final layer in Industrial Diamond was a perfect thing to do. Thanks for sharing your process.

What a beautiful card! I really like how you added the white rectangle in the middle so that the splatters appear to be framing the flower and sentiment. Very pretty!

The more I see of the Enchanted Garden ink set, the more I love it. But I think I’d go with some light oranges/yellows and golds. I have a print of mums that are in oranges and golds, and I really want to recreate it with this set. Thanks for sharing your beautiful card with us!
